Bill: Hey, I’m Bill with Booming Bookkeeping Business, and I’m here today with Joanne, one of my successful students. Joanne’s been in the program for a little while, has eight clients, and her biggest month in bookkeeping revenue is over $5,000.
(0:18 – 0:26)
Bill: Joanne, thank you for being here.
Joanne: Thank you, Bill.
(0:26 – 1:42)
Joanne: I’ve been a bookkeeper for three years. Before that, I was a mechanical engineer for 13 years. I became a stay-at-home mom and started doing the books for my husband’s business. When COVID hit and his business slowed, I realized I needed to bring in income too. I enjoyed bookkeeping and wanted to do it for others but didn’t know I could do it virtually or earn good money from it.
(1:42 – 9:43)
Bill: You can enjoy it, earn good money, and have flexibility. And you have kids?
Joanne: Yes, a five- and a three-year-old. I needed something without tight deadlines, something I could do at 3 a.m. if needed.
Bill: Why did you choose Booming Bookkeeping Business over others?
Joanne: Two reasons: the value and the marketing help. Access to weekly calls, email support, and the Facebook group was a bargain. I already had some bookkeeping skills but needed help marketing myself.
Joanne: I watched YouTube but didn’t understand the big picture. Your program helped me understand balance sheets, P&Ls, and how to use them to really help clients.
Bill: You’re able to take on clients as needed and pause when you need to. That’s the beauty of it.
Joanne: Exactly. I can pick and choose. Sometimes I turn down monthly work if I don’t have the bandwidth.
Bill: Let’s talk numbers. You billed $5,000 in a month and have eight clients. How has that changed things?
Joanne: At first, I was nervous about investing in the program. But now I’m making money instead of worrying. I no longer stress about getting a full-time job outside the home. I’ve built a business I can run from home and be with my kids.
Joanne: My son is in kindergarten doing remote learning, and I work right next to him. I never had that kind of impact in my previous job as an engineer. Now, I see how happy clients are. I’m helping someone apply for a PPP loan — that’s real impact.
Bill: So you went from engineering to bookkeeping through your husband’s business and now run your own. That’s amazing.
Joanne: Yes, and it surprised me how much I enjoy it. I thought it’d just be data entry, but I now help clients spot problems before the IRS does. It’s rewarding.
Bill: You’re really helping people. So, what would you say to someone thinking about starting?
Joanne: I’d recommend your course. People want to do everything for free, but you need structure, marketing, sales, and a supportive community. Your course provides all of that and more — it’s worth the investment.
Bill: Thank you — I love seeing your wins in the group and appreciate you sharing your story. Hopefully others find this helpful in making their decision.
Joanne: Thank you, Bill. It’s been great.
Bill: My pleasure. We’ll talk soon.
