Hey there, Bill von Fumetti here with Booming Bookkeeping Business, and I’m here with another one of my successful students, and this is Tara. Tara, thanks for coming on and telling us a little bit about your story. Thanks, I’m excited.

(0:15 – 0:43)
Cool. So give us an idea of where you were before you stumbled into this wild world of bookkeeping. So my husband kept telling me that I should open up a bookkeeping business since I have a background in accounting, but I wasn’t really sure as to how I should get it started, I wasn’t sure how to like mark my business, and I wasn’t sure if I was confident in myself enough to actually do books for a business.

(0:44 – 1:16)
And so I came across your Facebook page and your classes and I jumped into it. So where were you at professionally? I worked for a company doing accounting, and I just wanted something else to supplement my lifestyle. So I had a full time job and then I started to do this on the part time for referrals for my husband’s clients.

(1:17 – 1:36)
And then it just kind of started from there and just started growing. What was your biggest reason for starting your own business? It was definitely to help supplement my lifestyle financially. And two, I just felt like I had more to offer and give.

(1:36 – 1:58)
And I felt like I’ve always had a talent or a love for accounting and helping small businesses. So I just kind of mirrored the two. What was it that led you to look for some help in getting all of this started? Because I just wasn’t confident, I guess, that I knew what I was doing.

(1:58 – 2:05)
I just felt like I was out there all by myself. And with your course, I just felt like I had support. I had help.

(2:06 – 2:23)
And if I had questions, especially with the Facebook group, that I had a support system. And then I tell my clients and my husband that I have a mentor and it’s you, Bill. So it just helps make me feel like I’m supported.

(2:23 – 2:56)
And if I don’t know, then I can always reach out to you or the support team. What was it about when you were looking for a mentor or looking for support? What was it about me, my program that stood out to you? I think what stood out was the weekly calls where we can speak to you directly and ask those questions. And also the support emails where we can send video and the support can kind of help us walk through the steps.

(2:57 – 3:16)
But just speaking to you directly on Wednesdays was really like the selling point. What were some of the concerns you had about being successful starting your bookkeeping business? I was afraid that I didn’t know everything that there was to know about bookkeeping. I felt like I was afraid that I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

(3:18 – 3:48)
And so, and then with you, well, with the course and just the hell with the marketing and all the modules, if something were to come up that I haven’t came across yet, I could always go into the modules, see if you’ve already recorded it to see if it’s already there. And then if it’s not, and it’s a little more complicated, I could always reach out to ask specifically about that one topic that I need to help with. Very cool.

(3:48 – 4:14)
Very cool. Were you concerned at all about getting clients? Yes, I was. But I didn’t realize through that the QuickBooks Pro Advisor had options to get clients through there and to help get our page further up on the ranks by the referrals and the leads and things like that.

(4:14 – 4:29)
So I wasn’t too aware of that before I joined the group. And also with the other marketing tactics, I wasn’t aware. So that was the biggest.

(4:29 – 4:34)
Another big reason why I joined was the marketing piece of it. Cool. Cool.

(4:34 – 4:55)
So it’d be fair to say that you did have some concerns about getting clients. Like, can I get clients? One of the things I was most concerned about was getting clients. And with the courses help, with the marketing modules, with the reinsurance from Bill and the team, and they will look over your profile, they’ll look over your statements.

(4:55 – 5:18)
It really helped me to be confident in my marketing skills. And also when he would go over a typical engagement call and he would practice with us. And that really just helped boost my confidence so that when I do get the leads, I can secure the deal.

(5:18 – 5:23)
Very cool. Very cool. So speaking of which, let’s talk a little bit about results.

(5:23 – 5:30)
Tell us where you’re at in your business and feel free to share numbers as you’re comfortable. Okay. So I have about seven clients right now.

(5:30 – 5:52)
And a couple of the clients have multiple businesses. And I’m about $2,700 a month. What are some of the benefits of having control over some of your income and schedule and things like that? I love being able to travel and take my work, take my computer wherever I want to go.

(5:52 – 6:00)
I just love the freedom. And I just love that it helps support my family. I can help bring in extra money.

(6:01 – 6:19)
And I just kind of feel like I’m in control. How has life changed for you since you started working your bookkeeping business? I think I’ve gotten a lot more confident in myself, and especially with my business. I can speak about my business just in general.

(6:20 – 6:29)
When I’m out, I’m constantly thinking about my business. I just leave a card here, just leave a card there. Because you just never know who may need your services.

(6:30 – 6:36)
But I definitely think I’m more confident. How proud of you is your husband? He must be proud. He is.

(6:37 – 6:45)
He is. But he’s an entrepreneur. So he kind of encouraged me and pushed me to start my own business.

(6:45 – 6:59)
And so I do give him the credit. And then, of course, by having this group, it just really, really helped me. Because like I said, I don’t feel like I’m all alone.

(7:00 – 7:14)
There’s always somebody to reach out to and have help. What would you say to somebody who’s thinking of starting a bookkeeping business? I would say you should do it. I would say you just never know who will need bookkeeping services.

(7:16 – 7:29)
You don’t have to be in the same city, the same state. I’ve had clients that I met through Facebook groups where they were across the United States. And I’ve built relationships with them.

(7:29 – 7:33)
And I would say just do it. Jump in. There’s support here.

(7:33 – 7:40)
There’s Facebook groups here. The weekly calls. There’s a lot of information in the modules.

(7:41 – 8:05)
And so I suggest to jump in, do it. What would you say to somebody who is afraid, like has some fear about, you know, believing in themselves or the fear of like the unknown, stepping into the unknown? I also was afraid. And kind of like I said, this course, like I had an accounting background.

(8:06 – 8:17)
I still felt like I didn’t know it all. But the course really covers a lot of things, stuff that I never even had to encounter. The course had it.

(8:17 – 8:33)
And so I think that would help some doubts that, you know, that if you don’t know something, it’s always there and it doesn’t go away. You guys add up, add to it. You guys update it.

(8:33 – 8:44)
And then if it’s something specific, you can always reach out. Okay, cool. And what if somebody, you obviously know, bookkeeping, you know, accounting had a little bit of background.

(8:44 – 9:04)
If for someone who is, who has the knowledge, who knows how to do good work, for someone who’s willing to follow all of the steps we outline in terms of getting clients and things like that. What do you think their chances of success are? Chances of success are very, very high. I’m a testament to it.

(9:04 – 9:22)
I didn’t know about the value added propositions and the QuickBooks profiles and just all the different methods. And I thought I knew, but I didn’t. And so the success is very, very high.

(9:23 – 9:32)
And as long as you put in the work, you know, then sky’s the limit. The sky is the limit. That’s true.

(9:32 – 9:43)
That’s true. You’re a testament to that. And I just want to thank you for taking some time out of your schedule today to talk to us and share your story and tell us what it’s like and what your experience has been.

(9:44 – 9:47)
Thank you. I’m so excited. Thanks so much.

(9:47 – 9:49)
We’ll talk to you soon, Tara. Thanks. Bye.

(9:49 – 9:49)
Bye-bye.
